The solid pro. duct is passed through a cooler I and crusher K to a coke oven L, and the volatile products are drawn off by an exhauster M to tar, oil, ammonia, and benzene extractors N, 0, P, and yield heating and illuminating gases R, S, the former of which may be utilized in the furnace D.
