Embrasure joints.- Relates to ball-andsocket joints for mounting guns on shields or parapets, and consists in forming the socket as a spherical zone the surface of which has part cylindrical gaps to permit of the insertion of part-spherical projections on a ring fixed to the gun, the ring being then turned in the socket to retain the parts after the manner of a bayonet joint. Fig. 1 shows an end view of a gun barrel 7 connected to a shield 1 through the medium of a ring 6 having part-spherical extensions 8, which are inserted through part-cylindrical gaps 5 in the socket 2, Fig. 4, and turned through 90 degrees to the position shown in Fig. 1 in order to assemble the joint. The gun is sighted through an aperture 10.
