122,607. Smithurst, P. A. Oct. 1, 1918. Operating doors by springs; checks. - Relates to closing means provided with a checking device particularly of the cylinder and piston type. The invention is defined with reference to the spring closing means described in Specifications 53/12 and 17376/14. In order that the door may be held partially open in any desired position, a wedge-shaped brakeblock d fitted in a recess in the piston m of the check, is employed. The brake may be operated from outside the apparatus by means of a handle i, cord h, lever g, and wire f. By opening the door a little further the brake-block becomes freed and the closing means becomes operative. A spring n tends to keep the brake-block in the inactive position.
