Lateral-splash guards comprise a fringe consisting of a series of rods 8 of resilient material, preferably indiarubber, each rod being stiffened by an internal spiral wire 19 the upper end of which is provided with an eye 20 carried by a rod 21 mountel in a channel frame 10 arranged along the outer side of the wheel. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), comprises also the arrangement shown in Figs. 1 (Cancelled), and 3 (Cancelled). In this arrangement, resilient rods 8 with a core spiral wire 9 are clamped between plates 10 the upper edges of which are curved inwards towards the wheel. The upper ends of the rods 8 project above the plates 10 and are also curved inwards. The plates 10 are carried by arms 15 mounted by means of a roller bearing on a pivot projecting from the axle cap 4, and swaying of the device is prevented by a stay 17 connecting the plates 10 to the axle. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
