PICT:0364780/IV/1 PICT:0364780/IV/2 In apparatus for the production of artificial threads of cellulose, cellulose derivatives, gelatine, rubber, or the like, by the action of an electric field, the pole which attracts the threads produced is united with a movable thread-receiving device which supports the threads, in such a way that the device itself, as a conducting body, exerts the attracting power on the threads. The spinning solution may be introduced into the electric field by means of a nozzle or by a serrated wheel. In the apparatus shown in Fig. 1, the poles which produce the field are connected to a serrated wheel f dipping into a bath of spinning solution c, and a metal ring g. When the wheels f, g are caused to rotate, spinning solution which is removed from the bath c by the points on the wheel f is sprayed out under the action of the field and caused to lie longitudinally on the periphery of the ring g. The filaments may be dried and stretched by the devices m and k, respectively. Modifications of the apparatus are described in which the axes of rotation of the bodies g, f are in various relative positions. For producing the electrical field, direct, pulsating direct, alternating or multiphase current may be used. The apparatus may be applied to the spinning of solutions of cellulose esters or ethers in the common solvents, with or without plasticizers, or to cellulose derivatives in reaction media, for example, acetic acid or other fatty acids. Mixed threads may be obtained containing, for example, rubber or caoutchouc on the one hand, and cellulose derivatives on the other hand, by using two separate vessels c next to, or behind one another. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers also to an apparatus comprising a lever arm t, Fig. 8 (Cancelled), capable of rocking up and down by the movement of an eccentric disc s, and which dips intermittently at its potential point v into the spinning solution contained in c. The filaments are collected on a frame w which is charged with a potential opposite to that of the point v. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
