374,231. Tipping-apparatus ; shoots. ROGERS, F. H., 181, Queen Victoria Street, London.-(Pohlig Akt.-Ges., J. ; 115, Weyerstrasse Weg, Zollstock, Cologne, Germany.) May 11, 1931, No. 13918. [Classes 78 (i) and 78 (iv).] In a wagon tipping apparatus for conveying loose material, such as coal, across the buffer space of a railway wagon to another means of conveyance, for example a shoot, a shoot 7, pivoted on a pin 9 supported in a slot 10 at each side of a frame 3 on a tipping platform 1, is adapted to be tilted against the end of the wagon to cover the buffer space. The shoot is normally held in the position shown in Fig. 1 by stops 14 on the frame 3 engaging side arms 12 and by a pawl 15, rotatable about a vertical axis, engaging one of the arms. When a wagon has been run on the platform 1 against a beam 4 on the frame 3, the pawl 15 is rotated by hand whereupon the pin 9 slides along the slots 10 and the shoot 7 falls into the position shown in Fig. 2. The shoot is then locked in this position by rotating a lever 16 which, by a spring 17, presses a lever 18 against the pin 9. The platform is now tilted until the wagon is discharged when the lever 16 is returned to its initial position and the pin slides back along the slots 10. The shoot is then tilted into its horizontal position, Fig. 1, by the arms 12 and is locked by the pawl 15 which rotates due to its own weight and engages one of the arms 12. The platform 1 is then returned to its untipped position.
