394,250. Ornamenting glass. MAMMOGLAS GES., and SANDERSFELDT, G., 33, Treseburgerstrasse, Bremen, Germany. Dec. 12, 1932, No. 35184. [Class 93.] A marbled appearance is produced on glass by forming a matt surface by grinding the glass with fine moist sand in a plate-glass grinding-machine, coating the surface with pigment mixed with benzol, and applying a protective layer. Several coats of pigment of different colours or shades may be applied, each coat being applied before the previous one is dry, whereby the colours are blended. To promote this blending, the matt surface may be rubbed with alcohol. The last colour coat may be covered with a silver bronze lacquer to produce a lustrous effect, and is followed by a protective coat consisting of umber varnish mixed with sand and emery.
