[Class 104 (ii)] [See also Group XXII] Rail chairs, &c., 2 are attached to iron sleepers 1 by means of a fluidtight sealing seam 5, formed round the outer edge by resistance spot welding, the chair or sleeper being formed inside the edge with a longitudinal rib such as 21 which transmits the load from the rail to the sleeper. The chair may be additionally secured to the sleeper by spot welding at 4, 14. The seam welding may be done by four tools 6, 16, 26, 36 working simultaneously.
