[Class 100 (iv)] Type-case machines.-A computing-printing machine having a group of type-bars for printing amounts is provided with another group of type-bars which can be positioned to print data at the side of the amounts. The machine shown in Figs. 1 and 3, comprising, as described in Specification 107,403, [Class 106 (i)], type-bars 3 for printing items and totals on a sheet a passing over a platen 2, is now provided with an attached bracket 4 having rods 8 supporting a slidable type-case 9 in which is mounted a number of spring- retracted, inclined plungers 10 having types 11 for printing memoranda such as KER, NOX, &c. The memoranda are indicated by labels 12 at the front of the type-carriage. The plungers are operated by means of rocking arms 16, arranged at opposite sides of the type-bars 2 and connected to key-levers 25, the rocking arms and key-levers being mounted on the bracket 4. The type-case is slidden along the rods 8 by means of a knob 29, and is retained by means of a spring-urged detent co-operating with a rack on the bracket 4. The operator slides the type-case into position for printing the required memorandum at the right or left of the item about to be printed, and the right or left-hand key-lever 25 is depressed to effect impression.
