[Class 59] A mill comprises a roll and two breast bars and a second roll intermediate the breast bars for co-operation with the first roll, the arrangement being such that the material is treated by roll and bar, then by roll and roll, and finally by roll and bar. As shown, a slow running roller 2 is in contact with a fast running roller 1 and with two breasts 3, 9 supplied respectively with material from hoppers 8, 12. Sealing plates 14, 13 prevent escape, of the material from the roll 2 and a scraper and tray 20 remove the ground material. A slidable gate 21 on the hopper 12 may be raised to permit material to pass into the hopper 12 from the roll 2. Two fast running rolls may contact with the roll 2. With a single roll in contact with the roll 2, the material is treated firstly by roll and breast bar, then by roll and roll and finally by roll and breast bar.
