[Class 37] [Also in Group XXXV] A permanent magnet unit particularly for a measuring instrument, comprises a part 5 of high coercivity material and a complementary part 8 of low coercivity material mounted upon a holder 1 adapted to be readily adjusted in position, one of the parts, e.g. the part 5 being clamped upon the holder, and the other part being secured to the holder by projecting into it. The holder has a discshaped bottom part 2 with a central screwthreaded hole 3 for securing purposes. The holder is preferably moulded or cast and the part 8, which may be of iron, has holes 9 into which the holder material enters. The part 5, preferably made of cobalt steel, embraces a rod 4 and is clamped between the holder and a bent transverse bar 6 by riveting or by means of a screw and nut.
