[Class 44] A clothes peg comprises a pair of wood or other nunmetallic members 1, 2 held together by a rubber ring 6 seating in shallow transverse recesses in the outer faces of the members. When the bevelled finger grip 20, 21 are nipped together, the jaws 15, 16 open about a fulcrum 3 which may comprise a semi-cylindrical part integral with or secured to one member and seating in a corresponding groove in the other, or a cylindrical pin seated in mating grooves in the two members. Nipping together of the parts 20, 21 also provides an external wedge form to facilitate application of the rubber ring which is placed on the thin end of the wedge and forced along into the ring-receiving recesses. A small gripping recess is provided at 11 to grip a wire cable and a larger recess at 13 to grip a jute &c. rope.
