[Class 44] In a cowling fastening as described in the parent Specification in which a screw 16 is rotated to turn a cotter 8 into locking position between pairs of,protuberances 24, 25 on a back-plate 21, the washer 15, which is slidable on flats 13 on the screw, is provided with notches 19 on its peripheral edge to engage corresponding projections 20 formed on the interior of the slotted housing 2. The cotter has arms 9 extending through slots in the sides of the housing 2 and is threaded to the screw. Projections 17 on the washer 15 engage with indentations on the cotter under pressure of a spring 10. To operate the fastening the bolt is unscrewed to a position such that, on depression of the bolt against the spring, the notches 19 of the washer 15 engage projections 20 of the member 2. Rotation of the screw by a screw-driver.26 effects rotation of the cotter, washer and member 2, to turn the cotter into locking position between the parts 24, 25, and the screw screwed down on to its seating 6. Indentations on the flange 5 are in longitudinal alignment with the slots in the housing 2 and indicate the position of the cotter arms from outside the fastening.
