[Class 69 (iii)] [Also in Groups VI and XXVIII] In apparatus for producing an aerosol of a relatively non-volatile substance, a hermeticallysealed cylindrical metal receptacle, formed from two bell-shaped parts 12 and 13, is provided with a capillary flow-controlling device 15 and a safety device 23 to release the contents of the container if the pressure inside becomes too high. The non-volatile substance is mixed in the container with a highly-volatile liquid or liquefied gas and the mixture is discharged on breaking off the sealed end of the capillary tube at a groove 18. The flow may be stopped temporarily by placing a rubber cap over the end of the tube. A portion of the bottom of the container may be shaped into a pocket 20 to receive the inner end of the tube. The safety device 23 preferably consists of a clover leaf-shaped piece of thin metal brazed over a small hole.
