[Class 38 (v)] [Also in Group XL] A motor-driven switch comprises a plurality of cams 17-22 mounted on a shaft 16 on bearings 15 secured to the switch housing 11, and movable platinum-iridium contacts 31, each on a flat nickel-silver spring 29, which engage fixed, adjustable platinum-iridium contacts 34 on polystyrene-insulated screws 36. The springs 29 are insulated from a panel 12 by a block 26 and actuated by resiliently-mounted rollers 24 bearing on the cam profiles, through insulators 28. A tag 32, insulated by a polystyrene block 33, is clamped to each spring 29. The cams 21, 22 and their contacts are screened by the earthed plate 23, and their profiles are arranged so that their circuits are made before and broken after the circuits controlled by the other cams. The switch may be used with portable direction finders (see Group XL).
