Vat dyes of the anthrimide carbazole acridone type

Vat dyes are made by condensing an anthraquinone-2,1 - (N) - 11,21 - (N) - 4 - benzoylamino - 61 - chlorbenzacridone (in which the benzoyl radical may be substituted by halogen, alkyl, or amino) with a 1-aminoanthraquinone (in which the 4-or 5-positions may be substituted by benzoylamino or alkoxy) and the product is carbazolized with an acid condensing agent. Alkoxy groups specified are methoxy, ethoxy, propyloxy, butyloxy, octyloxy, stearlloxy, and the benzoylamino radical may be substituted by halogen, amino and various specified alkyl and substituted amino groups. The usual methods of condensation and carbazolation are employed. A list of compounds within the invention is given, having substituents as indicated above. In examples, anthraquinone-2,1-(N)-11,21-(N) -4-benzoylamino-61-chlorobenzacridone is condensed with the following, followed by carbazolation: (1) 1-aminoanthraquinone, (2) 1-amino-4- (or 5-) benzoylaminoanthraquinone, (3) 1-amino-5-methoxyanthraquinone.
