[Class 52 (ii)] A seat, chair, settee &c., comprises a seat frame pivoted to an underframe about a pivotal axis which is situated above the underframe and forwardly of the central position of the seat frame, the seat frame being connected at the front to the underframe by a yieldable connection. As shown the support frame is a rectangular tubular metal frame 1 supported by legs 2 and pivoted thereto by pivots 7 is the metal seat frame 3, 4 to which the arms 5 and back 6 are secured. Springs 13 interconnect the frames 1 and 3, 4. The pivot 7 is preferably placed somewhat towards the front of the seat frame and the springs 13 may be replaced by rubber, or hydraulic or air devices. The springs &c., may be housed in part in the legs if the latter are made tubular and check springs to limit the tilting may be employed.
