732,259. Drawing mechanism. SACOLOWELL SHOPS. Oct. 16, 1952 [Oct. 20, 1951], No. 26009/52. Classes 120(2) and 120(3). A drawing mechanism comprises in combination with a plurality of pairs of top and bottom drawing rolls, a weighting arm mounted for swinging movement in a vertical plane towards and from a position overlying the bottom roller, a bar supported in a generally parallel relationship to said arm, a plurality of holders mounted on said bar and supporting said respective top rolls, means operable on said arm to apply roll weighting pressure to it, and an anti-friction roller wholly between the arm and the bar for transmitting the pressure of said arm through said bar to the top rolls, said roller being rotatably mounted on a member permitting translational bodily movement of the roller transversely to its axis. As shown the roller weighting arm 24 is pivotally mounted by rod 25 on a stand 26 and has transversely pivoted thereto by a pin 30 a bar 22 which, by means of holders 14, supports the top rolls 4 and 5. Between the arm 24 and the bar 22 there is an anti-friction roller 42 mounted on a spring wire 43 which can be adjusted longitudinally of the arm 24 by means of the holder 45. A lug 23 at the end of bar 22 is adapted to fit into a notch 48 on a washer 52 fixed to the rod 25 to retain, in a releasable manner, the arm 24 and the bar 22 in an inoperative raised position. Weighting pressure. is applied to the arm 24, through a link 33, by means of a spring pressed lever mechanism including a lever 31 pivoted at 29 on an adjustable pivot member 32 in a block 34. Indicia 47 on the end of the spring retaining rod 36 indicate the pressure exerted by the springs. A front roller clearer 9 and a back roller clearer 11 are provided. Specifications 668,880 and 732,339 are referred to.
