Improvements in or relating to stable aqueous penicillin preparations

A stable aqueous penicillin preparation comprises a slightly soluble penicillin salt in an aqueous vehicle comprising from 5 to 15 per cent of an alkali metal salt of citric acid, 25 to 98 per cent sugar, 15 to 25 per cent of an alkali metal salt of a sugar acid, and water, the percentages being weight (gram) to volume (cc.) of the completed vehicle. Penicillin salts specified are procaine penicillin, diethyl-amino-ethyl p-hydroxy benzoate salt of penicillin, dibenzylamino and monylamine salt of penicillin, 2, 4, 6 triamin - s - triazine and 1 - N - methyl - 1, 2 - diphenyl - 2 - hydroxyethylamine salts of penicillin, the penicillin being penicillin "G" "K", "F", "O", and "X" and penicillin dihydro "F". The sugar may be dextrose, levulose, sucrose, or maltose, and includes the polyhydric alcohols of formula C6H14O6 e.g. sorbitol, mannitol. The salt of the sugar acid may be the sodium or potassium salt of gluconic, mannonic, saccharic, glucuronic, gulonic or music acid.
