A machine for cutting a tube 7 comprises rotatable clamping means 2 for engaging and rotating the tube and at least two cutters 10, 10SP1/SP movable longitudinally of the tube during its rotation whereby the tube may be cut simultaneously or consecutively on both sides of the clamping means 13. The machine which is portable, preferably has two oxygen-gas flame or electric arc cutting torches 10, 10SP1/SP adjustably secured to slidable rods 11, 11SP1/SP, carrying tracing rollers 13, 13SP1/SP biased against annular templates 9, 91 secured to a rotatable gear ring 2 meshing with a pinion 3 driven by a hand wheel 3. Electronic follower mechanism may be used instead of the tracing rollers. The tube 7 rests on supports 6 with ball ends 6SP1/SP and passes through the ring 2 within which it is clamped by radially adjustable rollers and a clamping pin 5SP1/SP, 8, Fig. 2 (not shown). Instead of or in addition to the annular templates, a flat camtype template rotatable on a vertical spindle may be used. The machine may be used for profiling the ends of tubes or for cutting profiled holes in tubes in which case means may be provided for relative rotation of the tube and template. The torch and tracing assembly 10- 13 may be disposed to the side of the tube and be displaceable laterally thereof to facilitate lowering of a tube on the supports 6. A pair of torches may be used to form a double-bevel cut ready for welding. The Provisional Specification specifies that the machine may also drive a turntable and an additional torch for cutting a metal sheet supported on the turntable.
