Class 28(1) [Also in Groups XVII and XXIII] A lifting and lid-holding device for cooking vessels, dishes and the like comprises an elongated body having at one end means 3 for engaging a lid handle or knob end and at the other a jaw 4 comprising two spaced limbs defining an inner narrow gap 5 and a wider gap 6, one limb having a surface with parallel grooves 8 of which a selected one may be engaged by the periphery of a vessel, e.g. to support a lid more or less removed from the closed position. The surface of this lower limb is shown with serrations 7 and the surface of the upper limb at the gap 5 is smooth and the edge of a plate may be engaged between them. Fig, 3 shows the device supporting a lid vertically. The device may be cast in one piece from light metal alloy and may have a heat insulating covering 2.
