897,300. Switching systems for inductive heating apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 9, 1958 [Sept. 12, 1957], No. 28876/58. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XI] A switching system for use with an inductive heating system to carry out a series of operations on a longitudinal workpiece, whereby the inductor, workpiece and quenching device are arranged coaxially, comprises a stepping switch 18 operated by a magnet 34 which is initially energized by a foot switch 33, and subsequently by a series of stops, operating contacts, e.g. 8, in sequence with the movement of the work slide. By connecting the contacts 24a-24f and 24k- 24p to a series of perforated vertical bus-bars and similarly connecting a series of relays to perforated horizontal bus-bars insulated from the vertical bars, the bars being arranged so that at each crossing-point the perforations are coincident, an operating sequence controlled by the relays may be set up by means of conductive pegs, each peg bridging two bars. By means of a template having only those holes corresponding to a desired sequence, the pegs may be rapidly and accurately set up for any sequence desired.
