[Also in Group XXXVI] A die set for crimping a cylindrical ferrule of an electrical connector about an electrical conductor comprises a U- shaped female die 10, for holding the ferrule and a male die 12 fitting within the arms 18 and 20 of the U-shaped die and having an arcuate surface 24 oppositely curved and symmetrically opposed to the bight 14 of the U-shaped die and bounded on each side by a flat surface 26, 28 in the same plane and at right angles to the arms of the U-shaped die. The male die 12 is surrounded by a flat surface 30 which abuts the top of the arms 18, 20 of the U-shaped die when the die set is closed. The dies form a crimped connection having a cross-section as shown in Fig. 3. The connection can have spaced-apart crimped zones formed simultaneously or sequentially, Fig. 6.
