A tight-loop sound head 9, relies on a guide roller 8 and a sprocket 10 to locate a magnetically striped film F laterally with respect to a stabilizing drum 14 connected by a shaft 38 to a flywheel. A head-carriage 32, comprising a pair of strips with bifurcate ends, joined by a stretcher 52, is supported by a cross-bar 34 and the rotating shaft 38, a spring 58 urging a pair of stops 54, 55 into contact with the edge of the film such that the heads (not shown in Fig. 5) follow the movements of the film while maintaining registration with the sound-track 45.
