[Also in Group XXII] A metallic linear accelerator tube comprises a series of apertured partition discs 24 and hollow cylindrical spacer elements 28, each of the discs 24 is sandwiched between one pair of adjacent spacers 28 in a lengthwise alignment to form a single cylindrical member and a shell 30 is deposited around the member by an electroforming process to unite the discs and spacers into one unit. Prior to assembly the discs and spacers, made of copper, are plated to provide them with a protective finish. The electroformed shell of, e.g., copper, is several millimetres thick.
