933,575. Clock systems. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 9, 1960 [Dec. 14, 1959], No. 42480/60. Class 139. In a synchronizing clock system a time signal transmitted from a transmitter T, e.g. a radio transmitter, is preceded by a sequence of signals, a predetermined number of which must be correctly received by a receiver if the synchronizing signal is to be effective. The transmitter includes a pulse generator KT and a shift register ST comprising a number of binary storage elements. The receiver comprises a first shift register SR of binary storage elements into which the received signals are fed. A second and similar shift register HR has transmitted to it the registration of the shift register SR and is so arranged that it automatically assumes the next expected registration. The two shift registers are repeatedly compared and each agreement is registered on a counter TS. When a predetermined number of agreements have been counted, the trigger circuit MS is operated and the transfer from register SR to register HR is stopped. The register HR continues to operate through a number of states corresponding to the transmitted signal to effect operation of a device UP which generates an output signal U at the same instant as the signal U is produced at the transmitter.
