Specifications 2,300,969 and 2,768,215 are referred to.ALSO:Alkynols are made from an aldehyde or ketone reacting in liquid phase with an acetylene RC­CH in which R is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon in the presence of a catalyst consisting of 10-15% Cu and 2-7% Bi or SiO2, which has itself been prepared by impregnating a continuous phase silica gel with an aqueous nitric acid solution of cupric and bismuth nitrates at room temperature for 5-15 minutes and heating the resulting blue gel at 450-700 DEG C. for 2-100 hours.
