In a method of packing two kinds of contents separate from each other in a container, the first contents is placed in the container 10, partly filling it, and a sheet of film is held across the container mouth, pressed into it and secured to the container rim to form a pocket ID for receiving the second contents. A sheet of film 1 is clamped to joined horizontally reciprocable members 2, 3 by clamps 4, 6 and is advanced by movement of the members 2, 3 to lie over a container support 11. The sheet having been cut by a blade 5, the support raises a container 10 to just beneath the sheet, the clamps 4, 6 are released, and a punch 9 descends to press the sheet into the container mouth. Members 8 carried on the punch turn the sheet over the container rim and blowpipes 12, 14 heat integral cutting and sealing members 13, 13SP1/SP. The support 11 rotates so that the members 13, 13SP1/SP seal the sheet to the rim and cut off surplus material 1C respectively. The support descends to enable a conveyer (not shown) to take the container to filling mechanism, and clamps 7 hold the cut foil edge while the members 2, 3 are withdrawn. The clamps 4, 6 grip the foil and the members 2, 3 again advance, the clamps 7 having then released the sheet.
