A gasoline composition comprises tetramethyl lead, a virgin naphtha component, and at least one other component, the virgin naphtha component boiling below the temperature at which 75% of the gasoline composition distils having been desulphurized. The other component may be a reformate or a catalytically cracked component. Evacuants may also be present, e.g. ethylene dibromide or dichloride or organic esters of any acids of phosphorus as the mono-alkyl diphenyl phosphates of Specification 864,133. Organo - boron compounds, naphthenic oils, N-methyl aniline, and anti-icers, e.g. ethanol, isopropanol, glycol ethers, C3-18 amides, morpholine, glycol, hexylene glycol, aliphatic hydroxy amines, C10-21 oxo alcohols, petroleum sulphonates, organic sulphoxides or sulphones, polyoxyalkylene compounds, N-alkyl substituted alkylene diamines, keto alcohols, glycerol, mono oleate, acetic, benzoic and 2-ethyl hexanoic acids and their esters.
