[Also in Division G1] X-ray tube apparatus comprises an X-ray tube having a rotatable anode disc 5 and an electron gun 4 for producing and directing electrons at a restricted area of the anode, so that during rotation of the anode this area will describe a circular path 9 on the disc and a photo-sensitive device for measuring the temperature of a restricted area of the disc outside the circular path 9, together with means for compensating for light from the cathode filament. The temperature is measured by a photo-electric device 11 and a further photoelectric device 12 may be provided to compensate, in a bridge circuit 13-17 for the light radiation on the disc from the cathode filament. A relay may be included to switch-off the anode voltage for as long as necessary. Alternatively, the light radiation from the cathode filament may be compensated by a rheostat in the temperature - measuring circuit, mechanically coupled with a filament current control rheostat.
