991,803. Delivering sheets. F. L. SMITHE MACHINE CO. Inc. May 10, 1962 [May 12, 1961], No. 18085/62. Heading B6H. Envelope blanks 16 fed in succession at high speed by pins 14 on conveyer chains 10 are stacked on a table 200 by a rotary transfer and stacking device B, such as that described in Specification 857,769, which includes wheels rotating at constant speed carrying blankholding means which move at the same speed as the wheels to take a blank, and then move at a lesser speed during the interval when the blank is released for stacking, each blank being arrested on release by alignment pins 208 or the like so that it is superposed on the stack. The blank-holding means on the wheels comprise suction grippers which can be rocked periodically in a direction contrary to the rotation of the wheels just before release of the blanks. The stacker table 200 is slidable along fixed posts 204, and has pins 212 engageable with chains 214 which are driven in the direction D by a stacker indexing mechanism 216 in synchronism with the shaft 22 on which the transfer wheels are secured. The stop-pins 208 are adjustably mounted on a baseplate, and pass through large holes in the table 200; they engage notches 210 at the sides of each blank to stop and locate the blank over the stack.
