[Also in Group XXXI] The pump 1, a tractor power-lift supplies fluid through a dump valve 4 to a pipe 11, the valve comprising a spring-loaded plunger 5 slidable in a bore 6, the amount of fluid dumped thereby being conditioned by the area of an adjustable restriction 9 so that the flow into pipe 11 is a fixed quantity. Pipe 11 leads by annulus 12 and passages 13, 14 to a valve 15, which in the position shown, connects passage 14 to a reservoir 2 via an annulus 16, port 34 and passages 17, 18 and 19. A lever 21 is moved to the position shown to lift the plough to the transport position, this lever movement rotating clockwise a crank 22 and swinging a lever 23 about a pivot 43 so urging a control valve 25 leftwards; the resulting uncovering of a port 27 enables fluid from annulus 12, to flow through a port 29, an annulus 30, and a passage 31 to shift the valve 15 to the right and close port 34 whereupon the fluid pressure rises in passage 13 and lifts a check valve 35 so that fluid is suppli d to the ram cylinders 36 by a passage 67. When the ram piston 37 abuts a pin 68 it moves the lever 23 and valve 25 to the right until port 27 is uncovered so enabling fluid " blocked in " against the piston area 32 of valve 15 to be directed to the reservoir; the back pressure on the other piston area 33 of valve 15 then moves the latter to the left and uncovers port 34 whereby the pipe 11 is again open to the reservoir. On draught control the ploughing depth is set by the position of lever 21 which adjusts the gap between the abutment 41 and the pivot 43; if the draught resistance increases beyond this datum a reaction spring 42 is compressed and a plunger 44 and a rod 45 move to the left, and if the gap is closed the lever 23 is translated to actuate the valve 25 and lift the plough. The adjusting member 50 of the restriction 9 is coupled by linkage to the lever 21 in such a way that when the latter is moved to the lift position the effect of the dump valve is neutralized and when the lever 21 is moved down the quadrant for deep ploughing the dump valve is set to deliver the amount of fluid required to match the operation being performed. To operate external hydraulic equipment the passage 67 embodies an isolation valve 66 with a tapping 65; the valve 66 may be operated when the lever 21 is moved up to a stop defining the neutral position of the apparatus; to lift the plough in these circumstances the lever is moved beyond the stop and means are provided to compensate for this extra movement in relation to the operation of the dump valve.
