Strip metal is fed to a cutting mechanism by a pair of rollers 20, 21 which are rotated intermittently by a mechanism including a pair of one-way clutches which are connected to a lever on a shaft 71 which is oscillated by a pair of conjugate cams. An electric motor 33 drives a main drive shaft 30 through a speed reducing unit 34 and belt drives 35, 40. The main drive shaft 30 is connected by two-to-one ratio gears 60, 61 (Fig. 5, not shown) to a cam shaft 62 having a pair of conjugate cams 64, 65 which oscillate a cam lever 70 keyed to a shaft 71, there being a dwell period between each oscillating stroke. A lever 75 (Fig. 5, not shown) keyed to one end of the shaft 71 is connected by links 78, 80 to a pair of one-way roller clutches 84, 87 on the drive shaft of the feed roll 20 and arranged so that the feed roll is rotated in the feed direction at each oscillating stroke of the lever 75. The feed stroke can be adjusted by moving the connecting rods 78, 80 along a slot in the lever 75. The strip material is fed by the rollers 20, 21 along fixed guides 16, 25 to a cutting device having a fixed blade 28 and reciprocating blade 28. The blade 28 is mounted in a frame consisting of end plates 48, 52 and rods 53 and which is reciprocated by a connecting rod 42 driven by an eccentric 41 on the main drive shaft 30. Both blades 27, 28 are pivotable in unison about a vertical axis on studs 45, 50 so that the strip may be cut in an oblique direction to produce trapezoidal, square or triangular pieces. The lower blade 28 is oscillated between cutting strokes by an arm 44 on its carrier 43 which is connected by a rod 101 (Fig. 4, not shown) to a lever 100 on the oscillating shaft 71. The upper blade 27 is rotated in unison by guide pins 58 on the carrier 43 for the lower blade 28.
