Flaying apparatus comprises a drive mechanism 21, Fig. 1, and two serrated parting discs 1, 2 set into oscillatory rotary motion by drive levers 3, 4 engaged in an eccentric shaft 5, a partition member 9 sealing off the drive mechanism from the parting discs. The eccentric shaft 5 is mounted in the partition member and in a bearing cover 10, the bearing cover and parting discs being centred in the partition member. The partition member 9 is connected by a screw 29 to the bearing cover 10 and by a retaining screw 25, to a cover 24 partially covering the parting discs. In a locating tongue 11, Fig. 4, of the partition member 9 is inserted a centring member 22 which centres the bearing cover 10 directly. A hard metal centring ring 28 is secured to the centring member 22 by a peg 38, Fig. 4. By unscrewing the screw 25 the cover 24 and parting discs 1, 2 may be removed for cleaning and by unscrewing screw 29 the bearing cover 10 may be removed to permit the drive mechanism 21 to be cleaned and lubricated.
