Ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer and coal tar pitch or petroleum pitch composition

A composition comprises 0.1 to 75% of pitch and 99.9 to 25% of a resinous copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate, and optionally a filler, e.g. carbon black, a powdered metal, clay, aluminium oxide or aluminium silicate. The pitch may be from coal-tar, petroleum, natural asphalt, water-gas, tar, wood or rosin. Mixing may be effected at temperatures at which the components are malleable. The compositions find application in bonding metals to non-metals or to other metals and as coatings on metals.ALSO:Coatings for metals such as galvanized steel and carbon steel, consist of a composition comprising 0.1 to 75% of pitch, 99.9 to 25% of an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer and optionally a filler such as carbon black, powdered metal, clay, aluminium oxide or aluminium silicate.
