摘要

In this thesis the miscibility of 3 polymer blends was examined. Mixtures of chlorinated polyvinyl chloride with 2 copolymers, ethylene-vinyl acetate 70 and 45 (where 70 and 45 represent the weight percent of vinyl acetate in the copolymers) were determined to be miscible over the entire range of compositions studied. Blends of polyvinyl acetate and chlorinated polyvinyl chloride were found to be multiphase at all compositions. However, it was established that these blends were partially miscible.;Normalized dielectric loss curves indicate that different compositions of chlorinated polyvinyl chloride/ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer blends experience varying degrees of mixing at the segmental level. Calculated Kirkwood-Frohlich correlation parameters also suggest that differences occur in intramolecular and/or intermolecular interactions with changing blend composition and may provide a measure of the degree of segmental mixing in the polymer blends.
