[Also in Division E2] A spigot joint for use in tubular structures includes a spring-pressed locking-pin e mounted in a spigot member c carried by a tubular component a and adapted to be automatically interlocked in a socket member d carried by another tubular component b, a manually operable device being provided to lock the spring and locking pin in an inoperative position to permit disengagement of the parts. The socket member b has a ring d provided with an inclined surface p which, as the socket is moved on to the spigot, depresses the stud k and pin e in turn until, at the completion of engagement shown in Fig. 3 the stud and pin are moved outwardly by the slotted leaf-spring g into a keyhole opening o in the socket. To release the parts the stud is pressed in and moved upwardly along the spring until the shoulder n of the stud engages the top edge of slot l in the spigot, the spring g and pin e thus being held out of engagement with the socket, as shown in Fig. 4, to permit disengagement of the parts.
