[Also in Division B8] An embossing tool of the kind described in Specification 856,111 has a body 12 containing a reel of tape 16, embossing dies 28 and a drivewheel 32. It has a handle 13, pivotally mounted on the body 12, containing a hooked arm 34 driving the drive-wheel 32, and a stud 29 acting through plate 91 of press-stud 92 to operate the embossing dies. Affixed to flange 43 of body 12 is a cutting device comprising a plate 53 firmly mounted to flange 43, two cutting blades 61, 74 separated by a spacer 71 and secured together and an anvil 81 secured to the plate 53 and separated therefrom and coacting with blade 74. The plate 53 has in it a slot through which passes an adhesive coated label strip and the lower edge of which acts with the blade 61 to sever the label from the strip. The upper edge of the anvil 81 contains a recess of a depth slightly greater than that of a protective liner covered the adhesive layer on the strip and of a width less than that of the blade 74 to prevent the blade 74 from cutting through the liner. The blades 61, 74 are operated by a lever 87, the end of which 89 passes through a slot in plate 53 and engages a recess in the blade 61. Normally when the handle is pressed the tape is embossed. If stud 92 is pressed, however, the stud 29 is disconnected from the embossing dies and the lever 87 is engaged to sever the label from the strip and to form a tab for ease in removing the protective liner (Fig. 7, not shown).
