In a process for continuously casting a foam mix in a moving trough, a web moving in an inclined path is located at each side of the trough where the foam rises so that the top surface of the foamed mass is substantially flat. The said webs are directed into an inclined path by passage over an adjustable inclined rod or roller 31, Fig. 1, or 14, Fig. 9, or an adjustable inclined plate 16, Fig. 5, from which it is drawn by passage between gripping rollers. A detector device may be located upstream or downstream of the inclined roller to respond to lateral drift of the web and to cause correction by increasing the pressure of the gripping rollers or angularly moving them.
