1290451 2 - Acylamino - 1,3,4 - thiadiazole- (thi)-ones FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER AG 1 Jan 1971 [24 Jan 1970] 107/71 Heading C2C Novel 1,3,4-thiadiazolones of the formula in which R is alkyl optionally substituted by alkoxy, or cycloalkyl or alkenyl optionally fused to aryl or cycloalkyl rings or substituted by halogen or alkyl groups, or aryl or aralkyl, each aryl moiety optionally substituted by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, cyano, nitro, CF 3 and/or dialkylamino groups, RSP1/SP is C 1-10 alkyl, C 2-6 alkenyl or C 3-8 cycloalkyl and X is oxygen or sulphur, are prepared by reacting an amino compound of the formula with an acid derivative RSP1/SP.CO.Y, where Y is Br, Cl or -O.CO.RSP1/SP, preferably in a solvent in the presence of an acid-acceptor. Many thiadiazolones are specified. 2 - Amino - 4 - cyclohexyl - 1,3,4 - thiadiazolone- 5 is obtained by heating 1-cyclohexylthiosemicarbazide with phosgene. 2-Amino-4-butyl-1,3, 4-thiadiazolethione-5 is obtained from 1-butylthiosemicarbazide and thiophosgene. The acylamino-thiadiazolones possess herbicidal properties and are used in conventional forms as pre- and post-emergence weed killers.
