1289260 Two-part couplings AMP Inc 19 April 1971 [24 Feb 1970] 22235/71 Heading H2E An electrical connector assembly for effecting releasable connection to the surface of a printed circuit board comprises a housing 1, Fig. 8, of moulded resilient insulating material provided with pairs of feet 18, 19 of which feet 18 are resiliently movable with respect to the housing to enable fixing through apertures in the circuit board and at least one contact 24 releasably mounted in the housing with a contact portion 44 projecting below the floor of the housing to make electrical connection to the circuit board. The housing is provided with an integral lid 2 upon which the legs 16, 17 and feet 18, 19 are mounted. Legs 16 are connected to the lid via stand-off projections to provide the resiliently movable feet 18. The underside of the housing is provided with flaps 21 which press against the circuit board, when connected, and act as a dust seal. The housing is provided with dividing walls 23 with shoulders 25, projection 31 with surface 32, end wall 5 with projection 27 and hook members 30 to separate and support a number of contacts. A pair of walls 23 is provided with an extension and latch means which engage the lid through suitable apertures. The contact, Fig. 4, is generally formed of channel section with an integral spring tongue 38 and a pair of contact springs 42 which extend in side-by-side relationship from portions 41 of the channel section which are turned inwards to lie parallel with the web portion 35. The arcuate portions 44 of the springs 42 have their side edges swaged. The contact is positioned in the housing with a pivoting motion. The housing is fixed to the circuit board by pivoting about feet 18 which causes the contact portions 44 to wipe the contact area of the circuit board before final connection.
