[Also in Divisions H3-H5] A tuned relay used in a ripple control signalling system (see Divisions H3-H5), comprises two contacts 27, 28 of such a mass and biased toward the centre contact 17 with such a force that at a predetermined amplitude of vibration of the centre contact one or other of the contact sets 8, 9 is always open, while below that amplitude, or at a different frequency, there will always be a time during each period of vibration when the closed period of the contacts will overlap, providing a complete circuit from contact 27 to a contact 28. The centre contact is mounted on a tuned reed and the outer contacts either spring-biased as in Fig. 2, or biased by the action of gravity on their masses, Fig. 3 (not shown). The outer contacts can be mounted on springs or pivoted levers.
