The TiC powder is less than 20 microns e.g. 3-20 microns, and the Ti-Ni less than 50 microns e.g. 4-50 microns. The powder mixture preferably containing 4-30% Ti-Ni is hot pressed for 10-30 minutes at 1375-1400‹C. at 200 Kg/cmSP2/SP. The powder mixture may be formed by wet milling the powders in pentane, hexane, acetone or trichloroethylene. The sintered carbide is used for throw away tips, punches, dies and warheads.
