A process for the separation of microbial cells grown on petroleum hydrocarbons by the use of mono-bydroxy benzene (phenol) as separating agent and the treatment of the separated cells with water and solvents followed by drying at 5O-6OC under reduced pressure (40-60 cm/Hg.) for 4-5 hours to obtain protein and vitamin rich dry microbial cells.
