A continuous liquid filtration process using a continuously moving particulate filter bed with liquid flow transverse to its movement and continuous regeneration and recycling, is effected by lowering the filter bed vertically with constant isomeric speed and constant cross-section. - The liquid passes (horizontally) through the bed throughout its height, the filter particles being removed from the bottom, regenerated and recycled to the top. - A pref. apparatus comprises a vertical-axis annular vessel, with radial inward liquid flow. - The bed material is continuously removed for regeneration from the conical bottom.
