Water-insoluble enzymatic composition, for use in detergents for clothes and dish-washing, consists of a protease which is covalent-bonded to a water-insoluble matrix, consisting of a diazotised anthranilic acid ester of a polyanhydroglucose cpd., of formula: polyanhydroglucose group-O-OC (where polyanhydroglucose group is a water-insoluble cellulose, starch or a dextran cross-linked with epichlorohydrin, and X is halogen, such as Cl or Br, or weak organic acid anion, matrix contains 0.5-1.5% N and enzyme is insolubilised by covalent bond with matrix). Matrix is prepared by reacting polyanhydroglucose cpd. with isatinic acid anhydride, at 2-50 degrees C, to form anthranilate which is diazotised.
