The plant has air stream cooled internal circumferential baffles fitted to horizontal revolving barrel which is fitted with a whirler. This rotates and its axis of rotation is parallel to that of the barrel at the same level but offset towards the rising side of the barrel. It is pref. fitted with adjustable baffle plates. Its rotation is in the same direction as that of the barrel and the speed is equal or larger than the rotational speed of the barrel. The plant effects fast cooling and effectively breaks the sand up. Used in recovery of foundary sand and its prepn. for re-use.
