Collection of Data and Information on the Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to Be Used by Foundry Workers

This research was an information gathering effort designed to provide background data on the existing personal protective equipment (PPE) usage patterns in foundries. In addition a set of foundry accident data was evaluated to identify accident/injury trends which might be addressed or corrected by proper PPE usage. It was felt that the Supplementary Data System data set coupled with existing ANSI, NSC, and NIOSH recommendations would provide a sound technical basis on which to make recommendations concerning appropriate PPE usage for specific foundry job categories.
