As shown the powder is stored in a container in the form of a capacitor with an earthed conductive base 8, a conductive cover 6 and a cylindrical dielectric wall 4, the air supplied through supply line 1 into a distributor 2 and exiting from nozzles 3 and 5 agitating the powder and so bringing it into contact with the wall 4, nozzle 5 also moving the powder so agitated towards the cover 6 at which it is injected into a supply duct 10 to the manually operated spray gun, by air from a tube 9. The spray from the gun is conical, parts 11 in the nozzle thereof being able to be charged electrically from a cable 13 through a resistance 14 if the properties of the powder do not allow for good frictional charging thereof. The trigger 20 in this case would control both the air supply and the high tension voltage supply to which cable 13 is connected.
