The mechanism is designed for simultaneous attachment of one or more two-part plate hinges with clamp-shaped arms on the frame and cover of a case or boot or similar unit, and comprises one or more press dies to accommodate the hinge and press it through the frame and over, and one or more press anvils to bend the arms round. The anvil is fixed to a swivelling case accommodating a device hinged on the machine chassis, with a holder to hold the case firm. A pressure medium cylinder, and a two-armed lever connected to the piston rod of this, to drive the press die, are likewise on a swivelling connection with the chassis. There is preferably a fixed, resiliently hinged or pneumatically displaceable stop bar for the case frame, with limiting bars at the sides adjustable to the frame width.
